Here is a tip for teachers who have students who struggle with reading...
I find plays help kids with reading aloud in class. Stronger readers can be given bigger parts and struggling readers can be given smaller parts so they can participate without being overwhelmed and made to feel they can't do as well by having to read the same amount as others.
Comedy plays are even better. If a reluctant reader has a few short funny lines that get a laugh, this can be a real confidence boost and make them want more.
